Description
Setting the Standard for Hair Removal
In response to the ever-increasing demand to remove unwanted hair on virtually any body area, the ability to offer superior results to the widest variety of patients is critical. The LightSheer Diode Laser System offers high powers and both short and very long (400 ms) pulses to safely and effectively treat all skin types including tanned skin and the broadest range of hair colors, diameters and depths. The recognized "Gold Standard" for hair removal, the LightSheer family of diode laser systems represents quintessential simplicity in a state-of-the art package.
- The "Gold Standard" for hair removal with an unsurpassed library of clinically documented success
- Treats all skin types including tanned skin, most hair colors, depths and diameters
- Patented ChillTip provides continuous contact cooling of the epidermis for maximal patient safety and comfort
- Fast coverage rate with large 9x9 mm or 12x12 mm square spot and up to 2 Hz repetition rate
- Proven reliability and outstanding "up time" track record ensures that patient treatments can proceed on schedule.
- Compact and lightweight design allows portability between offices or movement between rooms within the same office.
Multi-Application Capability
In addition to documentation of clinical efficacy with hair removal and permanent hair reduction, the LightSheer is also FDA cleared for the treatment of pseudo folliculitis barbae (PFB), benign pigmented lesions, and leg veins, providing the operator with multi-application capabilities and versatility.
Leg Veins - Approximately 50% to 60% of men and women have unsightly leg veins. While sclerotherapy is still considered the treatment of choice for the removal of superficial leg veins, many vessels may be too small to inject or patients may have an aversion to this invasive procedure. The LightSheer diode laser system can provide an alternative method of treatment that requires no painful injections.
Benign Pigmented Lesions - The LightSheer diode laser system can successfully treat a wide range of cosmetically undesirable benign pigmented lesions.
Pseudofolliculitis Barbae (PFB) - PFB, or razor bumps, is a common condition in which the regrowing hair, after shaving, curves back towards and pierces the skin resulting in a pustule or papule. PFB is very prevalent in populations with curly hair, affecting nearly 85% of men of African decent and a growing number of women. The LightSheer's excellent safety profile for all skin types including the darkest skin, makes it a safe, effective and revolutionary alternative for the treatment of pseudofolliculitis barbae.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How does the LightSheer Diode Laser System work?
A: The system emits near-infrared laser light that is absorbed by the pigment located in the hair follicle. The laser is pulsed, or turned on, for only a fraction of a second. The duration of each pulse is just long enough to damage the follicle, while the system's unique, patented contact-cooling handpiece, the ChillTip, helps protect the skin by conductive cooling during the laser energy delivery.
Q: What advantages does the LightSheer have over other laser hair removal systems?
A: The LightSheer Diode Laser System was designed from the ground up for laser hair removal, so it has the wavelength, fluence, pulse width, and active epidermal cooling system—the ChillTip ideally suited for laser hair removal. The system is small, compact, and (in some models) portable, so it fits well into virtually every type of existing practices. The system's solid state construction makes it durable; it's state-of-the-art user interface makes it easy to use. Finally, Lumenis has been in the business of making medical and cosmetic lasers for more than 30 years, so we've been able to develop unparalleled service and support—from our extensive training and practice building resources to our stand-alone systems' 24-hour replacement service (not available everywhere in the world). No other hair removal system offers the same combination of product excellence and customer service and support.
Q: Why should I use the LightSheer Diode Laser System rather than the methods I've been using for years?
A: The LightSheer Diode Laser System's design provides for enhanced comfort during treatment, minimal risk of infection, speed and accuracy. Since the system uses a unique cooling handpiece, it minimizes skin irritation that other methods may create. Since it is non-invasive (no needles to penetrate the skin), the risk of introducing bacteria into the skin is reduced. Because the system is fast, it allows for larger areas to be treated, considerably increasing the efficiency of the hair removal process, which allows more patients to be treated during a typical day. Finally, the LightSheer Diode Laser is a precise instrument that can be adjusted to damage only the hair follicle while minimally affecting the surrounding skin.
Q: Does the LightSheer work on tanned or different skin colors?
A: The LightSheer diode laser system safely and effectively treats all skin types (Fitzpatrick Skin Types I-VI) as well as tanned skin. For darker skin types and people with tans, appropriate fluences are generally lower and appropriate pulse widths are generally longer to prevent damage to the epidermis. Using the appropriate treatment parameters, however, people with all skin types can benefit from laser hair removal with the LightSheer.
Q: Are the Results Permanent?
A: The LightSheer laser has been cleared by the FDA for hair removal and permanent hair reduction on all skin types and tanned skin. To achieve a satisfactory level of clearance, 3-5 treatments are typically required.
